Research Interests The core of my research explores the practice of twentieth and twenty-first century US avant-garde poetries. I have published extensively on experimental late twentieth and twenty-first century American poetic practice in journals and books. I also have a longstanding interest in modern and contemporary Welsh poetry in English.Early research examines the legacy of the poetics of a loose collective 'language writing' on recent poetry and how we might conceptualise a 21st Century lyricism.

Recent published articles and chapters examine how contemporary poetry represents the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars; the poetry of post devolutionary Wales and its relationship to a culture of militarism and a reading of Broadcast Poetics in Dylan Thomas's radio essays/ features for the BBC. I have become increasingly interested in the dynamic between poetic performance and radio. My next monograph considers the history and reception of American poets and poetry on the BBC's Third Programme.
