About This Prize
A prize of $500 and a letter of recognition will be awarded to a scholar at any level who published a peer-reviewed individual or co-authored article or book chapter in an edited collection in the prior calendar year (i.e. the date of publication should be between January 1 and December 31) that most advances critical scholarship in Irish Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, and/or Intersectional Studies. Articles may be submitted in Irish or English.
Ann Owens Weekes, who passed away in 2014, was a trailblazer in the then-uncharted terrain of Irish women writers. She published in 1990 a ground-breaking critical study of Irish Women Writers: An Uncharted Tradition. You are invited to read more about this remarkable woman here.
