Gerardine Meaney is Professor of Cultural Theory in the School of English, Drama and Film at UCD. She is the author of Gender, Ireland and Cultural Change (2010), Nora, Ireland into Film Series (2004), (Un)like Subjects: Women, Theory, Fiction (1993, 2012), and co-wrote with Mary O’Dowd and Bernadette Whelan Reading the Irish Woman: Studies in Cultural Encounters and Exchange, 1714-1960 (2013) She was one of the major co-editors of the Field Day Anthology of Irish Writing: Women’s Writing and Traditions, volumes 4 and 5 (2002). She is the Principal Investigator of a European Research Council funded project on European Migrants in the British Imagination: Victorian and Neo-Victorian Contexts (https://projectvicteur.com/). She is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy and former Chairperson of the Irish Humanities Alliance (2016-17). In 2021-22 she was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Advance Studies, University of Edinburgh.
