I have been researching migration from the Beara to Upper Michigan for many years. I have published number of articles and book chapters from that research, including a number on the history of the Irish copper mining industry. I have been the Ernie O’Malley Memorial Lecturer at NYU and gave DeSantis Lecture at Notre Dame. I was a Fulbright fellow at University College Cork in 2009. Foe a number of years I was part of the team that maintained the Irish Diaspora Discussion List and now manage a Facebook page for Irish Diaspora researchers.
