I am a Professor of English and a Professor of Theatre at Florida State University. This concurrent appointment allows me to work in the two disciplines that bridge my research and teaching interests: Shakespeare and Early Modern Drama and Irish Studies, Modern Irish Drama, and Irish Theatre history. There is much of Shakespeare in Irish theatre and vice-versa, as Synge writes in his preface to ‘Playboy’. I’m very fortunate to be able to teach text and perfromance.
