I have just completed my third semester as a graduate student at the University of Houston where I am seeking a Master’s Degree in World Cultures and Literatures. My specialization is in the French post-colonial experience, primarily Africa and the Caribbean. I previously attended the University of Houston as an undergraduate student where I received my B.A. I was a double major and completed my degree in both the English / Creative Writing and Anthropology departments. I also minored in French. I later went on to do two semesters of post-graduate studies in the Irish language at the University of St. Thomas in Houston. I was awarded a scholarship and a Fullbright Award which enabled me to continue my language learning during a month in the summer at NUI Galway in Ireland. I have a strong interest in Ireland’s own post-colonial history and hope to pursue a second Master’s degree in Irish Studies in the nearby future.
