I am a writer and scholar with interests in Irish and Irish-American Literature. I have published on J.M. Synge’s nonfiction in New Hibernia Review and published personal essays in the Colorado Review, New Hibernia Review, and the North Atlantic Review. One of my essays, “The Irish Gambit” was listed as a notable essay in the 2020 edition of Best American Essays. I have published numerous reviews and essays about popular culture, rock, and jazz music in a variety of publications. At Beloit College, I teach literature, creative writing, and journalism courses. I also serve as chair of the college’s media studies department. During the 2015-15 academic year, I served as a visiting fellow at An Foras Feasa (Maynooth University) and participated in the Letters of 1916 project. I have led two study abroad trips to Ireland.
