I am an ethnomusicologist and professor of Irish Studies at The Evergreen State College. I specialize in the music of Ireland (and Indonesia, and Brazil, and a few other places). My publications include Focus: Irish Traditional Music (Routledge) and Bright Star of the West: Joe Heaney, Irish Song-Man (Oxford). Once every three years I teach a year-long interdisciplinary Irish Studies “program” that includes study abroad in Donegal at Oideas Gael and features language, literature, history, politics, film, music, and other subjects.
