I am a currenlty a PhD candidate at University College London. My work focuses on Irish Catholics recruited into the British Army during the American Revolution, a time when they were legally unable to enter service, but during which significant numbers were recruited nonetheless. My research identifies Irish Catholic recruits and seeks to integrate their experience as soldiers into wider historiographical questions of imperial soldiering and the history of allegiance and subjecthood in the British empire. I hold a BA from Franklin Pierce University and an MA from Boston College. I have presented my work at a variety of conferences including ACIS, AHA, the Society for the History of War, and the Early Modern British and Irish Catholicism Conference at Durham University.
