I am Director of Research at Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick, and formerly Associate Professor of Urban History at the Centre for Urban History, University of Leicester. I hold a PhD from the University of Cambridge and have published broadly on nineteenth- and twentieth-century Irish history in journals such as The Historical Journal, The Journal of British Studies, Irish Historical Studies, Urban History, Rural History and elsewhere. My first book, Building the Irish Courthouse and Prison: A Political History, 1750-1850 was published by Cork University Press in 2020. I have held visiting fellowships at universities in Ireland and in India.
