While my research falls primarily under the heading of Irish studies, it also addresses British modernism, postcolonial theory, Continental philosophy, and issues of travel, mobility, and the body. My essays have appeared in journals including Modernism/Modernity, Modernist Cultures, Irish Studies Review, and the Journal of Beckett Studies, as well as in collections such as A History of Irish Modernism (Cambridge UP, 2019), A History of the Modernist Novel (Cambridge UP, 2015), Beckett in Context (Cambridge UP, 2013), and Beckett and Ireland (Cambridge UP, 2010).

My books include Samuel Beckett and the Postcolonial Novel (Cambridge UP, 2010), (with Gregory Castle) Standish O’Grady’s Cuculain (Syracuse UP, 2016), (with Gregory Castle) A History of Irish Modernism (Cambridge UP, 2019), and Unaccompanied Traveler: The Writings of Kathleen M. Murphy (Syracuse UP, 2021). Two more monographs are forthcoming: Nietzsche and Irish Modernism and License to Travel: A Cultural History of the Passport.
