Research Interests Published in several fields within Irish literature: later 20th-century fiction and poetry, focusing on intersections of gender, nation and sexuality in both female and male writers; Irish modernist poetry, especially Beckett; Elizabeth Bowen; Irish-language writing including poetry of Máire Mhac an tSaoi and Peig Sayers' autobiographical writings considered as social history and life-writing; feminist approaches to Irish literature and culture. Edited or co-edited books include Spenser and Ireland, Modernism and Ireland: the Poets of the 1930s (with Alex Davis); Irish Literature: Feminist Perspectives (with Tina O'Toole).
