Margaret Preston, completed her Ph.D. at Boston College. She is a professor of history and teaches
at Augustana University. The author and co-editor of a number of books and articles
including Charitable Words: Gentlewomen, Social Control and the Language of Charity in
Nineteenth-Century Dublin (2004) and Gender, Medicine and the State in Ireland, 1750-1963
