Madeline O’Neill was conferred with a PhD in history by the University of Galway in 2918. Titled ‘From Carnacon to Capetown: An Interpretive Study of the Transnational Career of Senator Colonel Maurice Moore (1854-1939), Soldier, Diplomat and Politician’, it is a biographical study of a significant figure in national and imperial history. In 2019, she presented a paper on ‘Maurice Moore and the Wars of Empire’ at the ‘Aughrim Remembered’ Summer School. She has also participated in local Mayo history projects and a 2022 Oireachtas documentary on the first hundred years of the Senate.
