Laura O’Connor is an Associate Professor of English at the University of California, Irvine, where she teaches poetry, Irish literature, and postcolonial theory and issues in Anglophone literature. She is the author of Haunted English: the Celtic Fringe, the British Empire, and De-Anglicization (2006). Her current book project, “Between Languages: Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and the Bilingual Spectrum of Contemporary Irish Poetry,” examines Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill’s work in relation to the poetics of four of her poet-translators: Michael Hartnett, Medbh McGuckian, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin and Paul Muldoon.
