Professor Kevin Rafter is Head of the School of Communications at Dublin City University. He serves as Chair of the Arts Council of Ireland and Chair of the Compliance Committee of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
Prof. Rafter is the author/editor of over a dozen books on Irish media and politics including most recently ‘Taoisigh and the Arts’ (Martello, 2022) and ‘Resilient Reporting: Media Coverage of Irish Elections since 1969’ (Manchester University Press, 2022pb; 2019hb).
At DCU, Prof. Rafter has served as Head of School and Associate Dean for Research while he has also led reviews of the Irish civil service, worked as an independent facilitator for 2016 government formation negotiations and served as Chair of Culture Ireland and as a board member of the Galway International Arts Festival, Oxfam Ireland and Dublin Bus.
Prior to 2008, he worked as a senior political journalist with media organizations including the Irish Times, the Sunday Times, the Sunday Tribune, Magill magazine and RTÉ News.
