Kay Martinovich received her PhD in Theatre Historiography from the University of Minnesota, writing her dissertation on the concept of “ghosting” in contemporary Irish and Northern Irish drama. She holds an MPhil in Irish Theatre and Film Studies from Trinity College, Dublin, and a BFA in Directing from Catholic University, Washington, DC. She has contributed several essays to books and journals, and has presented at ACIS, MATC, and ASTR conferences. Currently, she is Associate Professor of Acting at Northern Illinois University and works as a professional director in Chicago and regionally as a member of SDC, the union for professional stage directors. As Associate Artistic Director of Irish Repertory of Chicago, among many productions, she directed the American premiere of “By the Bog of Cats …” by Marina Carr.
