Kara E. Dempsey is Associate Professor of political geography at Appalachian State University and former Director of Irish Studies at DePaul University. She studies the intersection of politics and geography at various scales, particularly the utilization of space in the negotiation and production of ethnonational conflicts, consolidation of state and regional power, conflict transformation, and peacebuilding processes in Ireland.
