Julia C. Obert is Associate Professor and Assistant Chair of English at the University of Wyoming. Her first book, Postcolonial Overtures: The Politics of Sound in Contemporary Northern Irish Poetry, was published by Syracuse UP in 2015. Her second book, The Making and Unmaking of Colonial Cities: Urban Planning, Imperial Power, and the Improvisational Itineraries of the Poor–a comparative study of architecture and urban planning in a variety of (post)colonial cities (including Belfast)–is forthcoming from Oxford UP in September 2023. Her work has also appeared in Irish University Review, New Hibernia Review, Eire-Ireland, Irish Studies Review, Etudes Irlandaises, Scottish Literary Review, Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies, Postmodern Culture, Textual Practice, Emotion, Space, and Society, Postcolonial Text, and Continuum: Journal of Media and Cultural Studies, as well as in a variety of edited collections. She is co-organizer (with Eric Falci) of the annual poetry roundtables at ACIS.
