Joan O’Sullivan is Lecturer and Programme Co-ordinator on the MA and Structured PhD in Applied Linguistics in the Department of English Language and Literature at Mary Immaculate College. She has many years’ experience in English Language Teaching and teacher training as well as lecturing in linguistics at both undergraduate and
postgraduate levels. She has a particular interest in Irish English; her MA thesis was a corpus based analysis of the discourse of Ireland’s Travelling community and her doctoral research
centred on the language ideological implications of variety choice in radio advertising in Ireland.
She has published on both these topics and her monograph, Corpus Linguistics and the Analysis
of Sociolinguistics Change (Routledge) was published in December 2019. She is currently involved in updating and developing the Limerick Corpus of Irish English (LCIE).
