I am a historian specializing in the intellectual, political and economic history of Ireland, Britain and Western Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. My first book, ‘The Case of Ireland: Commerce, Empire and the European Order, c. 1750-1848’, will be published by Cambridge University Press in February 2022. It offers a fresh account of Ireland’s neglected role in European debates about commerce and empire in a global era of war and revolution.
