Ian Delahanty is associate professor of history at Springfield College (MA). His book, Embracing Emancipation: A Transatlantic History of Irish Americans, Slavery, and the American Union, 1840-1865, was published by Fordham University Press in 2024. He has published articles in Britain and the World and the Journal of the Civil War Era. His current research, for which he was awarded the 2023-24 Suzanne and Caleb Loring Fellowship on the Civil War, focuses on the role of New England cotton gin manufacturers within the global cotton economy during nineteenth century.
