Ian d’Alton, MA (Nat. Univ. Ire.), PhD (Cambridge, UK), FRHistS, is an historian of southern Irish Protestantism and co-editor (with Ida Milne) of Protestant and Irish: the minority’s search for place in independent Ireland (Cork UP, 2019). A recipient of the Royal Historical Society’s Alexander Prize (1972), he has been an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool (2011-12) and a Visiting Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, (2014). He is the author of Protestant society and politics in Cork, 1812-1844 (Cork UP, 1980), and of 20 book chapters. He is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at Trinity College, Dublin. With Dr Ida Milne he is co-authoring the volume on Wicklow in the Four Courts Press series on county histories of the Irish revolution, 1919-23.
