I teach and research history at Victoria University, Melbourne. I am one of the convenors of the Melbourne Irish Studies Seminar and an editor of the Australasian Journal of Irish Studies. My research interests are in the histories of gender, violence and religion in pre-modern Ireland. I have published on aspects of the 17th century wars in Ireland, as well as the histories of women and religion in late medieval Ireland. I have also published widely on the Irish in Australia, including A New History of the Irish in Australia, (NewSouth/Cork University Press, 2018/19) with Elizabeth Malcolm.
