Derick Wilson has been involved with Corrymeela since 1965. He has community relations practice as: a detached youth worker; a Principal Lecturer in Youth Work; and Corrymeela Centre Director. As Research Fellow, with colleagues: he established Future Ways, a reconciliation research programme promoting organisation cultures supportive of a more shared society across Civil Society, the Civil Service, Community Policing and local Councils (1989-2006). Assistant Director, UNESCO Centre and then a Reader in Education. He was a member of the four year six-country EU ALTERNATIVE Restorative Justice programme and managed ‘Creative Change’, a programme promoting mutual understanding with ten Primary Schools.

He is Reader Emeritus in Restorative Practices; a Founder Trustee of Mill Strand Integrated School and the Spirit of Enniskillen Bursary Scheme. He was: an Equality Commissioner (ECNI, 2002-07); an academic associate to the Pilot Victims and Survivors Forum.
