David Doolin returned home to Dublin in 2014 after a decade in the United States and has been teaching modules in American and Irish history at UCD since 2015. His eclectic research interests include Irish America, the United States at War, digital technology and Sports history. He published a monograph in 2016 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Fenian Invasion of Canada, titled, Transnational Revolutionaries: The Fenian Invasion of Canada, 1866. Dr Doolin is the recipient of the 2020 post-doctoral research Fellowship, The Kevin Brabazon Newman Fellowship in the History of Rugby in Leinster.
