Cian T. McMahon, PhD is an associate professor of transnational history at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he holds a joint appointment in the Department of History and Honors College. He is currently working on a book entitled The Coffin Ship: Migration and Community during Ireland’s Great Famine. McMahon’s first book, The Global Dimensions of Irish Identity: Race, Nation, and the Popular Press, 1840-1880, was published by the University of North Carolina Press in 2015. He has also published peer-reviewed articles in a range of journals including Irish Historical Studies, The Journal of American Ethnic History, and Race & Class.
