Ann Neelon is a poet who gives her courses in poetry and poetics a substantially Irish slant. Her work was included in Open-Eyed Full Throated: An Anthology of American/Irish Poets, edited by Nathalie Anderson and published in 2019. She has also participated in recent ACIS poetry roundtables on Bernard O’Donoghue’s The Seasons of Cullen Church and Ailbhe Darcy’s Insistence. As the editor of New Madrid journal from 2006 to 2018, she devoted numerous issues to Irish connections. She teaches at Murray State University, where she has won the Regents Teaching Award and directed the undergraduate creative writing program, the low-residency MFA program and the Literature in Ireland program. She has also hosted numerous Irish writers for campus readings.
