Dr. Amy Mulligan (DPhil, Oxford) is Assistant Professor in Notre Dame’s Department of Irish Language and Literature. Her work puts medieval Irish literature and iconography into transnational North Atlantic contexts, past and present. She’s written the monograph _A landscape of words: Ireland, Britain, and the poetics of space, 700-1250_(Manchester University Press, 2019), co-edited _Moving Words: Literacies, Texts and Verbal Communities of the Nordic Middle Ages_ (Brepols, 2019), published over 18 articles, and her work on medieval Irish place-writing has recently been supported by fellowships from the NEH and Fulbright Foundation. Amy’s new book project is entitled Medieval Chicago, and in particular considers the role of medieval Celtic iconography and discourse in shaping ideas about diasporic Irish-American identities, cultural and racial.
