ACIS offers four graduate student fellowships intended to support costs incurred in the course of conducting research. The Larkin Research Fellowship in Irish Studies is given to annually to a Ph.D. student conducting work in history or the social sciences on an Irish topic. The Larkin Interdisciplinary Fellowship In Irish Studies is awarded annually to a Master’s or Ph.D. student doing interdisciplinary research on topics that intersect with Irish Studies, including but not limited to music; creative writing; folklore; Irish language; social sciences; Women’s, Gender, and Sexualities Studies; disability studies; and other related fields. The Krause Research Fellowship in Irish Studies is awarded annually to a Ph.D. student working on a topic in Irish literature. The Hume Foundation Fellowship is awarded to a Master’s or Ph.D. student working on Northern Ireland/Peace Studies. For all prizes, eligible topics include Ireland as well as the Irish global diaspora. Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at a North American institution.
How to Apply
The deadline for all fellowship applications is December 1, 2024.
Application materials include a 2-3 page application letter (with a description of the research project and a statement of purpose), a CV, and one letter of recommendations. Materials will be sent as electronic files (Word documents or PDFs) via the submission portal (located on each fellowship page -see link above) to the ACIS past president, who serves as chair of the evaluation committee.
