The Department of History in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position in modern Western European history to begin fall 2025. Scholars with Irish history connections and/or an ability to connect their work with SHU’s Dingle, Ireland campus and the vibrant Irish Studies Center on the Sacred Heart University campus in Fairfield, CT are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will teach elective courses in their specialty area, 100-level general education history sections, and occasionally, the senior capstone course. In addition to teaching, tenure track faculty are responsible for scholarly activity, student advising, and service to the department, college, and university.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in history, completed by August 2025, is required. Evidence of successful scholarship and experience teaching within higher education is preferred. Ability to use digital methods such as GIS in some courses and as part of a research agenda a plus.
