The Irish Cultural Society of the Pacific Northwest is pleased to host the 8th Annual Sean-nós Northwest Festival on Presidents’ Day weekend, February 14-15, 2015 at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. The festival offers two days of workshops on traditional Irish singing, sean-nós and set dancing, Irish language, music, and culture. No prior experience is needed.
Festival classes will be taught by guest instructors from both Ireland and the United States, including All-Ireland winning singer Brian Ó hAirt, Oireachtas-winning dancer Brian Cunningham, Oideas Gael founder Liam Ó Cuinneagáin and famed Seattle fiddle player Dale Russ. Attendees are welcome to take classes on any topic they find interesting and are not limited to just one subject area. New this year is a one-day “Sampler” program for those without any prior experience or who want to learn a little bit about each subject area. The sampler program is offered on Saturday, February 14th only and includes a catered lunch for a reduced price over the price of normal workshops.
Adult registration costs from $40-$110. Detailed information including schedules, instructor bios, and online registration are available at seannos.org
