ACIS Logo Gus Martin Memorial Scholarship

The School of English, Drama and Film, UCD is pleased to invite applications for the Gus Martin Memorial Postgraduate Scholarship in Irish Literature and Culture. The scholarship will provide full tuition (international fee) to a graduate of a North American college/university to pursue the UCD MA in Irish Literature and Culture at UCD from September 2019 to August 2020. The scholarship honours the contribution and legacy to Irish literary studies of the late Professor Augustine Martin, Chair of Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama (1979-1995). The scholarship is sponsored by a generous donor.

For application:
• Applicants must have completed a Bachelors programme to high honours level in a North American university (US or Canada), by date of application.
• Applicants must, prior to application for the scholarship, have applied to and been accepted to the MA in Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama.
• The application must include:
• a personal statement (1-2 pages) indicating suitability for the bursary award;
• a full Curriculum Vitae;
• a sample of recent academic writing in English (max 3,000 words).
• notice of offered place to the MA in Irish Literature and Drama, UCD;
• two academic references. Note: written references by the nominated referees are to be submitted separately to Professor Margaret Kelleher (email as below) by the closing date for application. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that these references are received.
