A general introduction to the history of Ireland from pre-Christian times, through the Norse and later invasion of the Anglo-Normans, the Tudor conquest, the various plantations and especially the Plantation of Ulster following the Flight of the Earls, the Protestant Ascendancy, the Rebellions of 1798 and of Robert Emmet, Catholic Emancipation and Home Rule matters of the 19th century, the Easter Uprising of 1916, the War of Independence and the Civil War.
